About
Wedding Priests
References given on this website are to Ordained Catholic
Priests. These wedding officiants are married Roman Catholic priests
(sometimes widowers), or
“former” Roman Catholic priests, who are still active in ministry.
Because of their decision to marry the Roman Catholic Church does not
endorse them (at least officially). If you choose one of these priests
your wedding will be a Catholic wedding in terms of its contents,
character and feeling. However, the Roman Catholic Church will not
recognize these ceremonies as valid for them. If such a recognition is
important to you, you will need to convalidate your marriage later on by
fulfilling marriage requirements of the Roman Catholic Church and
repeating your vows in a private setting before a Roman Catholic priest
who is an active priest at a Roman Catholic parish at that moment. In
general priests listed on this website will be much more flexible and
understanding when it comes to celebrating your marriage in a location
of your own choice, having an interfaith marriage or a second marriage
after divorce without obtaining an annulment.
